HOSCHTON - Joyce Carter, 73, died, Saturday, July 4, 2009.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Dora Etheridge Gilliland. She had resided in Barrow County for most of her life and had attended Bethabra Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Carter.

Survivors include children, Wade Carter, Pendergrass, and Lori Hudson, Hoschton; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Betty Brady, Cornelia; brothers, Quniton Gilliland, Sr., Hoschton, Charlie Gilliland, Talladega, Ala., and Roy Gilliland, Cleveland.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 6, from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jason Webster officiating. Burial was in Bethabra Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice House, 1660 Jennings Mill Road, Bogart, GA 30622.

Carter Funeral Home , Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
