TUSCALOOSA Johnny Cecil Gilliland, age 81, of Tuscaloosa, died Feb. 19, 2008, at VA Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Stancil Clements and Rev. Doug Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Salle Gilliland; his mother, Sadie Perry Gilliland; his brothers, Quindle Gilliland, Percy Gilliland, and Emory D. Gilliland; and his sisters, Marie Perry and Ruby Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Gilliland; his sons, Johnny Ray Gilliland (Kimberly) and Dennis Gilliland (Annette); his grandchildren, Carrie Marie Gilliland, David Christopher Gilliland, Patrick Dennis Gilliland, Leah Paige Gilliland, John Eslin Gilliland, and Adam Sean Gilliland; and three great grandchildren.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the VA Medical Center for over 30 years as Supervisor of Environmental Services. Johnny Cecil was a devoted husband and father.

Pallbearers will be Harold Lewis, Kenneth Gilliland, Glen Gilliland, Earl Gilliland, Craig Ammons, Phil Wilson, Shawn Hannah, and Richard Swindle.

Honorary pallbearers are physicians and staff members of VA Hospital, physicians and staff of DCH Health System, friends and neighbors of Cherry Wood Circle, Dr. George Miller, Dr. Bobby Hill, Dr. Brian Givhan, and the American Legion.2

Marion Elmer Gilliland, 88, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 28, 2012, at the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh.

He was preceded in death by his parents George S. Gilliland and Marian Simpson Gilliland; brother George S. Gilliland, sisters Georgia Robb, Leota White, Lolita Spores, step mother Lola Miller Gilliland; granddaughter Paula Helene Gillliland.

Marion was born on January 3, 1924, in Wallace, Idaho. He was raised in the Washington and Idaho area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He married Helene Irene Slawson on August 4, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas. He was Honorably discharged in 1946.

He graduated BSEE from the University of Idaho in 1951. He moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and then Schenectady, New York, working for the General Electric Corp. In 1958, he moved to North Syracuse, New York working for Control Data Corp, and then IBM. In 1965 still with IBM he moved to Rockville, Maryland and then Derwood, Maryland. In 1970 he moved to Chester, New Jersey, still with IBM. He moved to Lehigh, Iowa in 1972 and started Gilliland & Sons Construction Company. He later was Plant Engineer at Webster City Products and then Plant Manager at USG in Fort Dodge until his retirement in 1986.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building and flying model airplanes, and was also a rock hound. He was a member of the Lehigh Christian Church.2

Frederick O. Gilliland, age 80, of Coker, died April 10, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home with Tim Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Sunday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Irene Gilliland, and brother-in-law, Eugene Branyon.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie M Gilliland; daughter, Melissa Beams; son, Phillip O. Gilliland (Sharon); sisters, Eddie Lou Tilley (Rex), Bonnie Branyon, and Joanne Ray (Billy); brothers, Wayne Gilliland (Faye), James Gilliland (Martha), and Richard Gilliland (Kathy); and grandchildren, Miranda Harbin (Blake), Justin Beams, and Jessica Beams (Larry).

Frederick was a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served as a deacon at Bethany Baptist Church. He loved farming and spending time with his great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Mills, Michael Redding, Kevin Robertson, Randall Ray, Steve Tilley, Jason Gilliland, and Wesley Robertson.

Honorary pallbearers are Myree Galloway, Mack and Jean Schultz, Nan and Henry Glaus, Bethany Baptist Church, Bethany community, past customers of Gilliland's Greenhouse, Montgomery VFD, Dr. Lydia Stefanescu, Dr. Nancy Tactuk and staff, Dr. Salinas, Dr. Prestley, Dr. Newsome, 4th, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th floor nurses and staff, Surgical Specialists of Alabama, and members and friends of Hidden Meadows Golf Course.
