She worked at Fair Electric and Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was an active and faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Graveside service will be held on April 6, 2010 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Bonner officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. for family.

In lieu of flowers, Ruby requested donations for the building fund at Bethany Baptist Church in her memory.

Pallbearers will be Al Cabiness, Ron Sellers, Brian Sellers, Rex Tilley, Tommy Hughes, Richard Smith and Ronnie Baughn. Honorary pallbearers will be from her church family at Bethany Baptist Church and neighbors.2

     Sadie Elizabeth Perry was born on 11 October 1893 at Alabama.1 She married John Salle Gilliland, son of Thomas Hackett Gilliland and Mug Sherrill, after 25 September 1917 at Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.1,2,3 Sadie Elizabeth Perry and John Salle Gilliland appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Hughes, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, enumerated 6 April 1930. Their children Ruby, Quindle, Emory Douglas and John Cecil were listed as living with them, as was Percy, John's son from a first marriage.2 Sadie Elizabeth Perry died on 11 August 1956 at Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, at age 62.1
