I could find nothing more on this Jacob Gilleland.

Jonathan Gilliland appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Jackson County, Alabama, with a household listed as one male 30-39, one female under 5, and one female 30-39.5

Jonathan Gilliland and Epsey B. Carr appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Yalobusha County, Mississippi, enumerated 4 September 1850.7 His occupation was listed as shoemaker. Also living with them was Epsey's mother Mary Carr.7

On October 2, 1854, Jonathan was granted 80 acres of land in Christian County, Illinois for his military service in Captain Byran's Company Alabama Volunteers. The land was then assigned to a John Hardtner.8 Then on November 1, 1854, he was awarded another 81.29 acres of land in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi for his service as a private in Captain Byram's Company, Alabama Volunteers, Florida War. This land was assigned to David L. and John N. Herron.9 On December 10, 1859, Jonathan and Epsey sold the SE¼ of Section 14, Township 11, Range 4W consisting of 160 acres of land in Yalobusha County to John Eskew for $1000.10

Jonathan's last military warrant for land was granted on September 5, 1861 for 80 acres in Hennepin County, Minnesota and was assigned to James T. Pribble. In this patent it mentioned that he served in Captain Byram's Company in the Creek War.12

Jonathan Gilliland appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Yalobusha County, Mississippi, enumerated 22 July 1870, listed as a mulatto, occupation shoemaker, and living in the James Collins household.13
