The following obituary appeared 30 January 2015 in the Montana Standard:

Alice Katherine Guay, 83, passed away on Jan. 27, 2015.

Alice was born Nov. 20, 1931, in Butte, Mont., to James Allen and Elma (Pudas) Gilliland. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith. As a child, she lived near Crackerville at Stuart and attended elementary school at the one-room Gregson School until it closed. She then attended junior high and high school in Anaconda and Butte, graduating from Butte High School in 1949.

Alice married Edward (Eddie) Guay on May 19, 1951, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Butte. She and Eddie lived most of their married lives in Anaconda.

Bookkeeping/accounting was her life-long field of work. She was employed by Beall Lumber Co; then worked for many years with Robert G. Byington, CPA. She then worked for Anaconda-Deer Lodge County for 20 years in the finance department and the Clerk and Recorder's office.

Alice loved outdoor activities including camping in Yellowstone Park, wildflowers, animals, traveling and skiing. In her younger years she enjoyed wilderness hiking and camping. In later years she enjoyed golfing, reading, crocheting, and watercolor painting.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Eddie, in September 2009; grandson-in-law, Matt Facto; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Morris Bryson, Harvey Guay, Homer and Lil Guay, Ovide and Velma Guay, and George and Jeanette Guay; nephew, Shaun Madden; and nieces, Christy (Madden) Olness and Reny (Madden) Roma.

Alice is survived by daughter, Rebecca Guay and her husband, Doug Buskirk of West Yellowstone; granddaughter, Emily Radonich, Camarillo, Calif; sister, Erma Bryson, Walnut Creek, Calif; sisters- and brother-in-law, Veva Guay, and LaVonne and Bert Madden, all of Billings; cousin, Helen Whitmas of Madison, Wis; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend and neighbor, Rita Grabofsky of Anaconda.

Alice had a kind and gentle spirit. Her faith was in knowing the moon finds its path across the heavens, the seasons know when to come and go, and the wildflowers return every spring.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Anaconda Project Care, the Copper Village Art Center or Pintler Pets would be appreciated.

Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home is entrusted with Alice’s funeral arrangements.2
