     Jane Gilliland was born on 12 July 1808.2 She was the daughter of David Gilliland Jr.1 Jane Gilliland was probably one of the three females under age 10 listed in the household of her father, David Gilliland Jr., in the 1810 Federal Census of Barree township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.3 Jane Gilliland married Benjamin Samuel Lightner.1 Jane Gilliland died on 1 February 1885 at Tyrone, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 76.2

The following obituary appeared 5 February 1885 in the Tyrone Herald:

Mrs. Jane Gilliland Lightner, widow of Samuel Lightner, died at her home in Tyrone last Sunday night, at the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 24 days. Two of her sons lost their lives in the army. Two other sons and two daughters survive her. For twenty years Mrs. Lightner had been a member of the M.E. Church and for some years previously she had been connected with the Presbyterian Church.2

     Jesse Gilliland was born circa 1810 at Pennsylvania.2 He was the son of David Gilliland Jr.1 Jesse Gilliland appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Tomkins, Warren County, Illinois, in the household of nephew, David James Gilliland, and his wife, Susan Bertha Line.2
