Robert Lee Gilliland, retired as a foreman at Brookley Field, died Monday at the age of 94.

Gilliland, a native of Harriman, Tenn., was a longtime resident of Mobile. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps.

He was a longtime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 49 and a life member of McCormack Lodge F&AM. Other memberships included Abba Temple and Scottish Rite.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lillian "Peewee" Green Gilliland; one son, Robert Brian Gilliland; and two grandchildren.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.7

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. —

Bob L. Gilliland, age 78, of Knoxville, formerly of Oak Ridge, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, June 6, 2010.

Bob was a member of Knoxville Christian Center. He was a retired Electrician Foreman from TVA. Bob was a member of the IBEW and Tullahoma Masonic Lodge No. 262. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Reece Gilliland, and mother, Eva Fairchild Gilliland.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Gilliland; daughter, Suzanne St. John and husband, Todd, of Murfreesboro; sons, Adam Gilliland of Winchester, Robert Gilliland and wife, Gina, of Pulaski; stepdaughter, Garilyn Lanclos and husband, Curtis, of Atlanta, Ga; grandchildren, Machelle and Kelli Gilliland, Amy and Andrew St. John and Christian Lanclos; sisters, Martha Cutaia, Pat Jordan and husband, Larry, all of Texas; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday followed by a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. Family and friends will gather at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the East Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery for graveside services with full military honors conferred by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel, 11915 Kingston Pike is serving the family of Bob Gilliland.
