Gilliland married Margaret Mary Polkabla on 16 May 1953.1

Lumber company founder was township supervisor

Dale L. Gilliland of Auction Road, Wilmington Township, died at 3 a.m. Monday (7-9-12) at home. He was 85.

He was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Sharon to Floyd and Mary Gertrude Frankenburg Gilliland.

He married Margaret Mary Polkabla on May 16, 1953.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Dale was the founder of Gilliland Lumber Co., New Wilmington, starting the business in 1965.

He was a Wilmington Township supervisor for 20 years.

He enjoyed his camp in Kennderdell, Venango County, and was founder of the Wilmington Snow Stormers. He took great pride in his wood crafts.

Surviving are: his wife, at home; two daughters, Sheryl Gilliland, Clermont, Fla; and Janet Whiting, New Wilmington; two sons, Robert and his wife Cindy Gilliland; and Jim and his wife Amy Gilliland, all New Wilmington; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Interment: Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington, with full military honors by West Middlesex Veterans of Foreign Wars and Wheatland American Legion.1 Dale L. Gilliland died on 9 July 2012 at Wilmington Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, at age 85.1

MESA, Ariz. -- Paul Thomas Gilliland of Mesa, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, in Mesa. He was 83.

Mr. Gilliland was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Sharpsville [Mercer Co] to John and Zula Gilliland.

Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He married the love of his life, Lena, on Sept. 2, 1950. Together they shared 61 wonderful years and had four loving children.

Paul served as a Marine in the Korean conflict.

He retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. after 34 years and moved to Mesa in 1986.

He coached Little League baseball for years, served as a deacon and greeter for the churches that he attended both here and in Mesa. He also served on the board of directors for the home owner’s association in his community.

Paul loved sports and cheered for the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lena; his daughter, Paula and her husband Mark Lyons, Hermitage; and sons, Larry Gilliland, Mesa; Tim Gilliland, Daytona Beach, Fla; and Randy Gilliland, Mesa; eight grandchildren, Bethany, Jason, Amy, Rachel, Ashley, Anthony, Christopher and Katie; and five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Tristan, Luke, Rosalyn and Christina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

A memorial service honoring Paul was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 in St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Mesa.2
