     Nancy Gilliland was born on 1 March 1935 at Pawhuska, Osage County, Oklahoma.2 She was the daughter of Chester George Gilliland and Mary Agnes Strikeaxe.1 Nancy Gilliland appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Strike Axe township, Osage County, Oklahoma, enumerated 2 April 1940, living with her brother and sisters in the George Tommey household.1 She married Richard F. “Dick” Reber in 1956.2 Nancy Gilliland died on 5 February 2014 at Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, at age 78.2

Nancy Gilliland Reber, age 78, of Sand Springs, OK passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 5th, 2014. Nancy was in Lubbock, Texas at the time with her family at her side. Nancy was born March 1, 1935 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the daughter of Chester and Mary Agnes (Strike Axe) Gilliland. She married Richard F. “Dick” Reber in 1956. Prior to her marriage, she attended St. John Nursing School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nancy then devolved her very busy life working for many years helping the elderly in home assistance and nursing homes. She was an advocate for the elderly in her job with the State of Oklahoma.

Nancy’s joy of her life was raising her five boys – Steve, Mike, Randy, Shaun and Todd. Dick and Nancy, along with their five boys, were longtime residents of Altus, Ok. In retirement she continued her work in Pawhuska Nursing Center as a volunteer Ombudsman. She lived on Lake Keystone with her home surrounded by trees and bird feeders. She enjoyed reading daily, listening to music and watching her favorite TV shows including Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelor and American Pickers. Though her health was failing, she thoroughly enjoyed all that life offered and made new friends on a weekly basis.

She was preceed in death by her husband, Dick, in 2007, her parents, and her brother George “Rusty” Gilliland. She had three grandchildren, Ryan and Drew Reber of Lubbock and Waylon Long of Altus. She had one daughter in law, Lynsey Janette Reber, of Lubbock and one great granddaughter, Rilynn Janette Reber, of Lubbock.

Nancy’s graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3, at the Pawhuska City Cemetery, Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Father Chris Daigle will officiate. Family and friends will then meet for lunch afterward to celebrate Nancy’s life.

     Evelyn Pearl Ross was born in 1914 at Pennsylvania.1 She married Boyd Gilliland, son of Anglo Cook Gilliland and Elizabeth Hovis, on 4 February 1935.2,1 Evelyn Pearl Ross and Boyd Gilliland appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Sugarcreek, Venango County, Pennsylvania, enumerated 20 April 1940. Their son Boyd James was listed as living with them.3 Evelyn Pearl Ross died in 1984 at Pennsylvania.1 She was buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.1 (For burial information see Find-a-Grave.)
