William died intestate, and on August 15, 1896, his son, James W. Gilliland, was granted letters of administration for the estate.7

EDYTHE JUNE GILLILAND, 77, of FREEHOLD, died Friday, Aug. 10, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Gilliland was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had resided in Keyport before moving to Freehold 49 years ago. Mrs. Gilliland was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Freehold.

She was the widow of David R. Gilliland, who died in 1979. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Michael Kinkel, in 2004. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Carol Gilliland of Ocean Grove; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Richard Kinkel of Boynton Beach, Fla; a sister, Marilyn Cannon of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Richard Kinkel Jr., D. Storm Gilliland, Douglas Kinkel, Amy O'Connell, Shea Gilliland, and Mark Kinkel; two step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
