     Gertrude Maxine Johnson was born on 21 November 1922 at Elgin, Chautauqua County, Kansas.2 She married Frank Irwin Gilliland, son of Charles Burton Gilliland and Ora Beatrice Stabler, on 22 March 1941 at Sedan, Chautauqua County, Kansas.1 Gertrude Maxine Johnson died on 26 October 2003 at Sand Springs, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, at age 80.2

Mrs. G. Maxine [Johnson] Gilliland, 80, former area resident and widow of the late Frank Gillland died at 9:20pm on Sunday in the Oak Dale Manor, Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gilliland will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday at the Graveside in the Dewey City Cemetery. Rev. Ralph O. Dershem will be the officiant. Committal prayers and interment will be directed by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service.

Mrs. Maxine Gilliland will lie in state in the Drawing Rooms of the Arnold Moore Funeral Residence where friends may call for visitation until she is removed for services on Wednesday.

A native of Chautauqua County, Kansas, Gertrude Maxine Johnson was born at Elgin on November 21, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Guy and Clara [Rector] Johnson. She was reared in the Elgin and Boulanger area, attending the Boulanger Elementary School and was graduated with the Senior Class of 1940 from the Bowring High School. She and Frank Irwin Gilliland were united in marriage at Sedan, Kansas on March 22, 1941. They established their home in the Bowring, Oklahoma area where Mr. Gilliland was employed in oilfield development, farming and worked for the Corp of Engineers. in 1966, the Gilliland family moved to Prue, Oklahoma where Mr. Gilliland continued his employment with the Corp of Engineers. Following his retirement they remained in the Prue area. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1987 and she continued her home in Prue working with the elderly until 1998 when she retired. In 2000, Mrs. Gilliland moved to Sand Springs to be near her daughter.

Survivors include five sons, Thomas Burton Gilliland, Dewey, Charles Emmanuel Gilliland, Wann, Ronald Joe Gilliland, Copan, Samuel Harvey Gilliland, Prue, Oklahoma: three daughters, Mrs. Frankie Lucille Peak, Sand Springs, Mrs. Jeannie Susann Hazelrigg, Prue and Mrs. Tammy Lea Rubin, Sand Springs, Oklahoma: eighteen grand-children and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and her husband.

Gertrude Maxine Johnson was buried on 29 October 2003 at Dewey Cemetery, Dewey, Washington County, Oklahoma.2 (For burial information see Find-a-Grave.)

Thomas Burton Gilliland died on 7 March 2010 at St. John Medical Center, Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, at age 68.2

Thomas B. Gilliland, 68, resident of rural Bartlesville, died at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday in the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Dewey Cemetery with Pastor Duane Gilliland of Bowring Baptist Church officiating assisted by Marston Stephens. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105 of Bartlesville. Graveside services and interment will be under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Casket escorts will include; Vince Lanphear, Frank Rowe, Ray Bellmyer, John Chinn, Mike Catlin and Wayne Hacker. Honorary casket escorts will include Gary Wayne Stephens, Casey Stephens, Bud Gilliland, James Gilliland Adam Chinn and Joe Chinn.

Thomas B. Gilliland was born December 5, 1941 at Bowring, Oklahoma to Frank and Gertrude Maxine (Johnson) Gilliland. He was raised and received his education in Bowring, graduating high school there in 1960. Tom worked in the oilfields before entering the U.S. Army in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1967.

He began his career in law enforcement at the Washington County Sheriff's office as a jailer working there for five years. He worked at the Dewey Police Department from 1981 to 1991 before returning to the Washington County Department where he worked as a patrolman for two years. He then worked at the Osage County Sheriff's office for many years where he advanced to the level of undersheriff and retired in 2003. Tom was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Moose Lodge and the Quarter Horse Association.

Mr. Billy Guy Gilliland, 65, of Dewey, died at 12:08 P.M. on Saturday May 18, 2013, at his residence.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, with Mr. Rick Yocham officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Full Military Honors will be presented by the members of the Bartlesville American Legion James H. Teel Post #105.

The family will receive friends and have a Visitation on Tuesday evening May 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Stumpff Home Chapel. Funeral Services and interment will be under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Gilliland was born on December 19, 1947, in Pawhuska to Frank Irwin and Gertrude Maxine (Johnson) Gilliland. He grew up and received his education at Bowring where he graduated High School with the Class of 1967. Following his graduation he entered the U.S. Army in served with the Army during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, during which he was seriously wounded receiving the Purple Heart Medal, and served there until his honorable discharge in May of 1979.

He was married to Deryl Crook on June 6, 1969, in Arlington, Texas.

After his discharge from the Army they made the home in the Copan and Dewey area where he was self employed as a rancher. He was active in his younger years in calf roping, and team roping. He was dedicated to his family, and in particular loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Gilliland is survived by his wife Deryl Gilliland of the home in Dewey, by three daughters; Dana and husband Vincent Lanphear of Barnsdall, Kelly and husband Worm Shipley of Copan, and Billie Jo “B.J.” and husband Justin Jester of Crowder, by three brothers; Charles Gilliland and wife Ann of Wann, Ronnie Gilliland of Grove, and Sammy and wife Laurie Gilliland of Prue, three sisters; Frankie Peak of Sand Springs, Jeanie and husband Allen Hazelrigg, of Osage, and Tammy and husband John Rubin of Sand Springs, by five grandchildren; Heather Lanphear, Jake Lanphear, Tyler Owens, Sarah Owens, and Houston Shipley, a special nephew and his wife Bradley & Angela Gilliland, a special family friend James Owens, and two brother-in-laws Bobby and Jimmy Crook.

Mr. Gilliland was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother Thomas Gilliland, and a niece Karyn Gilliland.2
