     Richard Bryan Gilliland was born on 5 November 1933 at Washington, District of Columbia.1,2 He was the son of Richard Bryan Gilliland and Eva Demar.1 Richard Bryan Gilliland appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Washington, District of Columbia in the household of his parents, Richard Bryan Gilliland and Eva Demar.1 Richard Bryan Gilliland married Barbara Inell Duke on 27 December 1956 at McKenney, Dinwiddie County, Virginia.3 Richard Bryan Gilliland and Barbara Inell Duke were divorced on 22 May 1984 at Prince William County, Virginia.3 Richard Bryan Gilliland died on 11 December 2008 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland, at age 75.2

Mr. Richard Bryan Gilliland Jr., 75, of Frederick, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 5, 1933, to Eva Demar Gilliland and Richard Bryan Gilliland Sr., he was a native of Washington.

Mr. Gilliland served in the U.S. Air Force and upon returning from Korea, he attended Tristate University in Angola, Ind. There, he earned his electronic engineering degree.

He was an avid golfer and made his first hole-in-one on Dec. 2, 1990. Mr. Gilliland spent several years researching and compiling the genealogy of the Gilliland family. He had a special love for Charleston, S.C.

His children will remember him for his sense of humor.

Mr. Gilliland is survived by his children, Terresa A. Gilliland, of Frederick, Richard B. Gilliland III, of Hagerstown, and Cheryl G. Wells, of Nampa, Idaho; five grandchildren, Raven Gilliland, Ryan McClure and Roberta Stanfield, all of Hagerstown, and James Rose and Stephanie Wells, of Nampa, Idaho. He was the great-grandfather to Noah, Nathan, Madison, Molly and Teagan, all of Hagerstown.

He also will be remembered by his former wife, Barbara D. Gilliland of Frederick.

A memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Travis, Associate Pastor of Music and Education, South End Baptist Church.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, to send expressions of sympathy to the charity of one's choice.2

     Daniel Bryan Gilliland was born on 21 February 1842 at Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina.2,3 He was the son of William Henderson Gilliland and Sarah Bryan.1 Daniel Bryan Gilliland appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina, enumerated 20 July 1870.4 Also living with him were his mother and his sister Margaret.4 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina, enumerated 7 June 1880.5 Also living with him was his brother Richard Latham and Richard's wife Lillian.5 He died on 6 June 1918 at Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina, at age 76.2 He was buried at Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina.3 (For burial information see Find-a-Grave.)

Daniel was an attorney, never married and died of injuries from being struck by a truck.2
